Thami Tsolekile blog: "match itself was very difficult"

Our Standard Bank Pro20 match on Wednesday against the Titans was a great performance.
I think the match itself was very difficult for us, as we knew how important it was to win and especially given the emotions of the past three days with Neil McKenzie being relieved of the captaincy.

Macky’s been at the helm for the past six years so I could understand how the guys were feeling before the game but I told them to be professional and it showed on the night.

No one gave us a chance to go to the Titans and beat them in their own back yard as they’re one of the favourites for the title.

We had a good start but for me I would have loved to see Macky carry on the way he started (with four fours off the first four deliveries of the innings). He was seeing the ball nicely and was keen to entertain, but it wasn’t meant to be. But what he did do was give us the momentum and the confidence to carry on and Zander and Dane got together and all but finished the job.

You could see in that first over how the Titans players’ heads already started going down and that’s just what we needed.

Our next game is a top-of-the-table clash against the Warriors on Friday night at the Wanderers. They are on top at the moment and I think they’re a very strong unit. It’s going to be very tough but I’m confident we can repeat our Titans performance. With such a short turnaround time we’ll have optional nets on Thursday for the guys who want to go and hit some balls but basically it’s a rest day for those who want to put their feet up.

I’m happy we don’t have to wait too long for the next game as our confidence is very high and as a cricketer, that’s when you don’t want to be sitting around for a week, waiting for the next match. You want to get back out there as quickly as you can.
