ICC Champions Trophy Fantasy League – Final Round Update

Congratulations to Australia and New Zealand for making it through to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. Australia are the current holders of the trophy and will be looking to successfully defend their title on Monday. New Zealand are the underdogs and will need to dig deep once again if they want to cause a surprise upset against the old enemy.

New Zealand surprised many by knocking out Pakistan in their semi-final with Grant Elliott and Daniel Vettori making short work of a modest 234 run chase. Ian Butler was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers claiming four for 44 in his 10 overs while Vettori capped a superb all-round performance taking three for 43.

Ominously for the Kiwis, the Australians have hit peak form at exactly the right time with Shane Watson and Ricky Ponting sharing in a record unbroken 252 run partnership as Australia crushed England by nine-wickets in the first semi-final. Watson racked up his highest score in ODI cricket as he ended unbeaten on 136 runs. He also racked up an impressive 259 fantasy points and with many fantasy mangers choosing him as their captain, we’ve seen some big movements in the global leaderboard.

Fantasy managers can now pick up to 6 players per country in this final round. It’s important to find the right balance in the team and pick the players that are going to perform on the day. The Centurion pitch favours the batting side and ultimately it is going to come down to whether New Zealand’s bowlers can restrict Australia’s batsmen from running away with match.
