Pierre Joubert blog: "Very ecstatic with the win"
Well, after watching the end of the Proteas game against India, it’s obvious that Sunday was a day for Warriors and Titans all-round. It was great to see Steyntjie and Wayne Parnell fighting hard for the boys, and it was just a pity that they didn’t get over the line.
Back to our own game, we are obviously very ecstatic with the win over the Warriors in our final round-robin game, and it is pleasing to put two clinical performances together as we had a good win over the Eagles in the game before.
To be honest, I was a bit surprised about how comfortable the win over the Warriors was, because all our matches this season – in Supersport Series and MTN40 – have been really tight.
I just think that we performed exceptionally, and having a guy with the class of Jacques Rudolph always helps. I honestly think it won’t be long before the national selectors call him up again.
Having batted so well, it was great to see the guys hitting their straps in the field. It is something that we have been working on, and it’s good to see the hard work pay off.
I enjoyed chipping in with a few wickets out there, but I though the standout performance was by David Wiese.
It’s not very easy to get a fiver in four overs, and I told him that if he ever tops that performance, I would love to be there!
Looking ahead to our semi-final against the Lions, I think that it will be a great scrap against our neighbours. We always have a hard game against them, but I think we are hitting some form at the right time and hope we can seal it in two games rather than a decider!
