Pierre Joubert blog: "It’s never nice losing full stop"

It’s never nice losing full stop, never mind losing such as tight game. But we made it hard for ourselves and we didn’t deserve to win the match after dropping about a million catches!

I thought we batted pretty well but we let ourselves down in the field although I thought Faf de Plessis bowled superbly to pick up three wickets.

We have probably played our worst two matches this season in the MTN40 semi-final and the first game of the Standard Bank Pro20 semi.

There was an easy way or a hard way to go through the Pro20 semis and we have chosen the hard way which means that we have to win two games on the trot now.

Despite all the negatives from the loss I was pleased with the way the team fought back.

We looked in trouble when Neil McKenzie and Vaughn van Jaarsveld were batting but to reduce the Lions to 100 for five was a good effort.

One of the team’s strengths is our never say die attitude and I thought we showed some of that spirit against the Lions.

The ball was skidding on a bit during their innings which probably made batting a bit easier for them although I don’t want to sound like I am making excuses because they deserved the win.

For the next semi we will have all our internationals back and having people like AB, Albie, Dale, Roelof and Morne back will be a huge boost.

A lot will depend on their state of mind when they get back from India but we are very lucky that they always want to play for the Titans.

Speaking of India, I was lucky enough to catch some of Sachin Tendulkar’s superb innings of 200. It was awesome, what else can you say?
