The Cobras got their title-retaining season off to a bang with a solid 42 run win this evening against The Lions at Newlands, Cape Town. The crowd was brought to their feet numerous times as the Cobras ended their innings on a high with big "Rockstar Master Blaster" Richard Levi hitting 43 runs off just 20 balls in an unended innings that included three 4s and three 6s. Robert Flylinck was the pick of the Lions bowlers with figures of 4 for 31after his allotted overs, which included the big wicket of Gibbs who hit a star-studded 53 from 32 balls.

Rock Star fans were treated to hard hats with a twist. Each hard hat got "mohawk" style ornaments that were attached to the hats. You could choose your colour, depending on which team you supported.
The crowd was rocked to the sounds of "REBURN" before the match began, and also during the break, with the band giving away free CDs throughout the game. There were also sufficient amount of wickets and boundaries to dunk a large pool of people into the splash pool.

The Lions, in their reply, could only manage 137 all out in 19 overs, in what started out a solid start for them, but neither Vandiar (39) nor Vilas (32) could build on their good starts. There was a great collapse as the innings fizzled as the Cobras turned up their own base and blasted the Lions out. Langeveld bowled brilliantly wrapping up the innings and taking 3 for 18 in his four overs and also earned the bowling award. Ontong also finished with 3 for 27 in 3 overs which started the onslaught.

Another great vibe tonight at Newlands with Table Mountain setting giving us the perfect stage for cricket. The next matches see The Cobras take on The Titans in Pretoria on Sunday and The Lions then head up North to Pretoria on Wednesday to see what The Titans will bring out to them.
