Morne van Wyk Blog: "The wicket did not play how we expected it to"
It is never nice being on the receiving end of a nine-wicket loss but we probably only have ourselves to blame.
The wicket did not play how we expected it to and by the time we readjusted we were already too far back in the game.
I must give credit to the Titans’ bowlers who summed up conditions really quickly and they put us under a lot of pressure.
We also ran into an in-form Blake Snijman who made batting look a lot easier than it actually was on that pitch.
At the same time we have to hold our hands up and say it was just one of those days and we just need to move on as quickly as we can.
We still have a great chance of making the semis and if we win two of our next three matches we will be in the knock-out phase of the competition.
We don’t have much of a break as we play the Cobras on Wednesday but I think it is important that we don’t get caught up too much in who our opponents are.
We have a good team and we need to concentrate on our own game.
Hopefully the toss won’t play too much of a role at Boland Bank Park.
Speaking to Justin Kemp earlier in the season, after the Cobras lost to the Warriors in their MTN40 semi in Paarl, he said that batting first at the ground was definitely an advantage so hopefully I win the toss!
I must say that I am enjoying the responsibility of captaincy. It is something new to me but I love leading the guys and it is a challenge I am really up for.
