Cobras conquer Zimbabweans

The Cobras batsmen were relentless in their dispatching of the Zimbabwean bowlers at Newlands on Wednesday night, as the home side smashed its way to an eight-wicket victory with just over 7 overs to spare - a hugely comfortable margin in Pro20 terms!

Zimbabwe had struggled with a slow run rate since the first over of their innings and failed to pile up a respectable total.

This left the homeside with an easy target of 85, and Andy Puttick amassed a very tidy 41 to help the Cobras on their way. Crowd favourite Gibbs managed just a single before being bowled after a careless double-step, but it didn't really matter, as the Cobras fans had victory written all over their hard hats long before the last ball was bowled.

On Friday the Cobras are at home again, this time up against the Eagles, which should be a much closer encounter!
