Amla for Vice Captain
Taking nothing away from Ashwell Prince and his accolades, I feel South Africa needs stability in hierachy and not having seperate personnel second in command to Smith in both forms of the game.
Pro20 apart, Hashim Amla has proved that he is a consistent performer and the ideal candidate for the role of vice captain of South Africa. He has earned the respect and love of a nation by not just his cricketing attributes, but by his character as well.
Maybe if Ashwell is relieved of the added responsibilty of this role, he will concentrate on improving his form. A form that we all know he has and is capable of.
Kallis was appointed
Kallis was appointed Vice-captain last week. All 3 forms of the game. Tenure runs until after 2011 world cup.
I like your sentiments, but not sure if vice-captaincy will be apt for Hash right now. He's laid a solid foundation for his blossoming career, and he should ideally be focusing on taking it to the next level. He has superstar potential. Kallis has a good head on his shoulders and is a good choice for VC at this time, I think.
Might be timely for him to assume VC role after 2011 WC.
