So, about those rabbits at Newlands...
Some people like to wear their team's shirt to games; others wear matching overalls with slogans painted all over them; some put on hard-hats and paint their faces in team colours. And then there are these guys.
I first spotted these bunnies during the dinner break, leaning against a tree near the food kiosks, drinking Coke and eating hotdogs. I rather like bunny-rabbits, so I snapped a quick shot before hurrying off to find somewhere to sit.
A little while later they came lolloping past me, and a British girl sitting nearby asked if she could take their photo. She said (and I think she spoke the truth) that she was going to take the photo home and tell everyone she knows that this is how ALL South Africans dress to cricket matches. (So, I'm just saying, be prepared for an influx of Barmy-Armyers dressed in fox suits next time England tours South Africa.)
I asked the bunny-boys whether they'd lost a bet or whether this was just their thing. They explained (solemnly promised, in fact) that they were going to run onto the field at the end of the game, thereby forcing the poor security guards to give chase. This sounded like something that would be YouTube-worthy, so I had my camera locked and loaded as the last over was bowled.
But when the game came to an end, their fluffy white tails and floppy ears were nowhere to be seen, on the field or off. Just as I thought – nothing but chickens in rabbits' clothing. :P

If you had stayed long enough for them to pluck up some dutch courage, you would have seen two of them run onto the field, and eventually taken down by the security guards. Those of us left thought it was hilarious!
Seriously? Aw man, that's
Seriously? Aw man, that's just disappointing, should've stayed longer... And I don't suppose anyone caught it on video either.
It must have taken industrial quantities of Coke to get that Dutch courage to kick in.
