J-P Duminy talks about batting

Like everyone else in the squad I’m loving every minute of the tournament. My role as a batsman is less clearly defined then some others but I fully understand the reasons why. Most batsmen like to know exactly what their job is and to keep their ‘spot’ in the line-up, but that’s only in an ideal world.

If we have made a great start and have wickets in hand with just five or six overs then it makes sense for Albie or Mark to go in ahead of me to hit boundaries. It doesn’t mean to say that I can’t hit fours and sixes, but they are capable of clearing the ropes even more often.

Besides, I’ll bat at number 11 if I have to in order to be a part of this team. There’s nothing better than being part of a winning culture. We have discussed the fact that we have now won six T20 internationals in a row and people are saying that we are due to lose. We do not subscribe to that theory!

Even against India which is now a ‘dead’ game with the defending champions being eliminated and us already in the semi finals, we will be playing for victory with as much determination as if it was an eliminator. The only allowance we have made for the situation is to allow Jacques to rest his stiff back. He would have played otherwise.

I’m still taking my bowling as seriously as ever in this format and it was great to be able to contribute in the last game against the West Indies when ‘Botes’ went for a few runs (for once) in his first couple of overs and Graeme threw the ball to me. I know I’ll be used more often if there are left handers in the opposition top order. I’m also pretty happy to bowl in the Power Play if required because Botes and Roelof are so effective in the middle overs.

Off the field it’s also been a really enjoyable tour. The squad gets on so well that there’s never any tension or disagreement – and if there is it doesn’t last more than five minutes!

I’ve been accompanied on tour by my girlfriend, Sue Erasmus, which has meant a few shopping trips around London and a couple of quiet dinners. But my focus has been so much on the tournament that we are planning to spend an extra five days in London after the final in order for to experience the city without being so distracted.

Right now, however, I’m happy to be distracted. It’s my job!

Man wat happend 2day?..tht wz nt u on th pitch bt i understand this wz nt ur lucky day..nd man keep up on makin us proud we r truly proud 2b South Africans...

What do we need to win a big Tournament?

Change will not make us WIN, but the attitude we possess. I always said, get rid of the dead weights in the side. Albie Morkel is history now, he needs to go. Mark Boucher should be on the coaching staff if your'll need his experience. Dale steyn is like the wind, fast with no direction, well even the wind has direction. Herschelle is too "high" to know whether he is batting or sitting on the park. Get rid of him. Bring specialists into the side and groom them. I think Hashim Amla would have done well in that match, he would have helped Jaques. Greame Smith, well lets kick him out, and use Botha as the Captain, remember we beat Aus, without Smith. There we go, that's the answer.

Well done, Kallis, JP, Parnell, Roelof, AB, Botha, Mickey

That is the worst load of

That is the worst load of crap and hogwash I have ever heard/read in my life. You should be ashamed of the things you wrote. I guess that is what seperates the supporters from the fans.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO WIN THE BIG TOURNAMENT- REPLY..

NO WAY CAN WE GET RID OF HERSCHELLE GIBBS.. THE ONLY REASON WHY THEY " SA" IS A GREAT TEAM A WINNING TEAM IS BECAUSE THEY PLAY AS A TEAM ..THE ONLY REASON WHY YOU'RE COMPLEMENTINIG THE OTHER GUYS IS SOLELY BECAUSE THEY HAD THE SUPPORT OF OTHER TEAM MEMBERS.

WELL DONE TO ALL -

To Shaun723

Completely disagreed with you.

If CSA go by your theory, they will need to find 6-7 new players after every series they play.

Give some time to the players. Every player go through some bad patch in their life. Even Smith aint in his greatest form right now and hence struggling to get runs.

It wasnt long back when Smith scored 100+ in Perth while chasing 414. It wasnt long back when Dale Steyn took 10 wickets n scored 76 against Aus. And so soon you want them to kick them out?

Albie Morkel is history? I wonder if you really even understand cricket. Albie got to bat when hardly 10-15 balls were left & you expect him to hit sixes from Ball 1?

This is the BEST South African team that ever played. And please dont judge a player's talent according to T20.

Gibbs played superbly against Aus recently if you remember.

It's shame that you want to get rid of so many players only after one series loss & with no respect to their hardwork over so many series win in last 18 months.

Bye !!

Not so chirpy now Mr Duminy

I see you haven't updated this site much Mr Duminy ... are you too ashamed to write here?

The performance of you and your team was absolutely dismal, and I reckon you should be the 1st person to be dropped from the team.

You get paid almost R1m for the IPL, yet since Aus you've done absolutely nothing.

Pissed off fan !!
