Warriors wilting in PE

The 2nd round of Semi-finals between the Chevrolet Warriors and the Gestetner Diamond Eagles is taking place today at Sahara Oval St. Georges in Port Elizabeth.

The Warriors batted first but an ominous sign of things to come presented itself in the second over when the Eagles' CJ de Villiers bowled a maiden over; rare in this format of the game.

The Eagles continued to bowl economically and the Warriors were only 20/1 (Kreusch bowled in 3rd over) at the end of the 5th over, with a measly 4.24 run rate.

CJ de Villers Shone again in the 7th with a stunning catch at long-on, sending Robin Peterson home for 16 runs.

The Warriors struggled through the remaining overs, never managing a run rate of over 6 per over. Ashwell Prince had the highest score of 40 off 29 deliveries but his party was also cut short when Thandi Tshabalala took an easy catch at third-man, just as the Warriors cleared the 100 run mark.

The Warriors finished at 117/8. CJ de Villiers was the hero of the innings with bowling stats of 4 for 14 and 1 maiden after his alloted 4 overs.

Can the Eagles secure their place in the finals in the second innings? They only need 118 runs and they will have their spot in the Champions league.
