Lions last chance?

Even the relentless rain this week has not dampened the spirits of the students in Potchefstroom, as the Highveld Lions try to salvage their series against the Cape Cobras.

Andrew Puttick got the game off to classic Standard Bank Pro20 style with a four off the first ball, but was sent home on the next ball he faced when Craig Alexander impressed on debut by bowling him out.

Herschelle Gibbs & JP Duminy looked like they were going to make an imposing batting pair but the Lions countered with the even more imposing Andre Nel.
Nella didn't disappoint when he ended Gibbs' game in the 5th over, making it just 25/2.

Justin Ontong replaced Gibbs and settled the Cobras nicely, proving his worth yet again.
He slammed an 88m six in the 10th which gave the dunk-tank a workout. I can only imagine how cold that water must be in this miserable weather but the students seem to be loving it!

The Cobras brought the 100 up in the 15th over, the second 50 took just 29 balls.
JP Duminy's skin was saved when a 3rd umpire decision deemed him not out but Ontong was caught on the very next ball while trying to smash it to mid-wicket.

Duminy made the 3rd notch on the fielders' belts when he was caught in the 17th over for 56 runs.

Vernon Philander didn't stay long which left Levi to bring the Cobras home. He made good use of his bat and his team finished their innings on a respectable score of 154/6. They are going to need to bowl their hearts out but the spongy pitch means the Lions' batsmen might just have a chance.

We'll just have to wait and see...

last chance!

It's now or never here. I hope that we'll have a chance to see some of this on the tele. I'd like to that the Lion's have a chance this year, but I'm afraid that I know better. I'll be watching nonetheless. I'm also looking for Superbowl Packages right now and would appreciate any suggestions in this regard.
