Davy Jacobs: "Just three runs was not great for my nerves!"

What a quality game of cricket against the Cobras although winning by just three runs was not great for my nerves!

After we had batted I thought we had enough runs but we missed a few chances and made life difficult for ourselves but it worked out in the end so I am very happy.

I thought we may have let the game slip a bit when Justin Kemp and Robin Peterson were at the crease because you are always in trouble when Justin is batting.

He is probably one of the best hitters in world cricket and there is no doubt that Lyall Meyer getting him out was crucial.

What a performance from Rusty Theron at the end though.

It takes a special bowler to be able to defend eight runs in the last over but Rusty works hard at his game and it shows. The way cricket is going you have to have a full repertoire and Rusty does. He can swing the new ball and later in the innings he can bowl slower balls, bouncers and yorkers so I think is a proper modern-day bowler.

I thought that we did well to post 149 because before the game we would have taken 135 to 140 so my partnership with Colin Ingram was very important for us. We were in early trouble but we kept saying to each other that all we needed to do was play ourselves in before trying any big shots and Colin timed his knock to perfection on a wicket that was not that easy to bat on.

I must also say a big thank you to the fans that turned out for the game. They created such a good atmosphere at the ground. It is always great playing at St. George’s because the crowd feels so close to you and the band was going great guns. I am just glad that we were able to give the fans a win!

The internationals will be back for the next game which will be really tough on the guys that have got us to this stage as they will have to miss out. But having the experience of the international players in big games is crucial and hopefully we can wrap the semis up on Wednesday.
