Davy Jacobs Blog: "Perfect start to the Standard Bank Pro20"
It is mission accomplished for us at the moment. At the start of the week we targeted two wins so to have pulled it off is more than nice.
Beating the Eagles and then the Dolphins on Sunday has given us a perfect start to the Standard Bank Pro20.
I though we were outstanding in the field against the Dolphins. Our fielding was great and I think it would almost be unfair to single out one bowler because they all did so well.
Every time the Dolphins began building a partnership we managed to take a wicket to stop their momentum.
Makhaya Ntini was great and he showed that he has got plenty left in the tank by picking up two for 22.
Makhaya is great to have in the team he is just so positive. I am sure a lot of you have heard how loud he can be in the field as well and you can’t help but be impressed with him.
He was superb with the new ball and deserved to be named as the bowling Master Blaster.
We have a bit of time now to regroup as we don’t play until Friday when we are off to play the Lions.
We will sit down during the week to discuss what sort of game-plan we will need. Ultimately we want to focus on our strengths but it is also important to try and find any weaknesses in your opponents.
When it comes to our game-plan we are quite lucky that we have just come out of the MTN40.
With all the new powerplays in that tournament there is not that much difference when it comes to Pro20 so we don’t have to do too much adjusting although we do have a few tricks up our sleeve for the Pro20.
Hopefully we can keep our momentum going and give the Lions a real run for their money on Friday.
