Davy Jacobs Blog: "It’s all about the semis!"
It was a bit of a disappointing end to our round-robin campaign against the Titans on Sunday, but I think it was just one of those games where not much went right for us.
We would have liked to keep them down to about 160, but unfortunately they played very well on a great wicket.
As far as our chase was concerned, we just never got any momentum going. I don’t think the guys took it a bit easier because we were already through, because we always play to win every game.
I guess it was just one of those days.
I am looking forward to the semi-final against the Cobras. I hear that they are switching venues to accommodate a Super 14 game in Cape Town, so the first game will be in PE on Friday night.
Hopefully we can get a full house in there to really get behind us.
It has been a great season for us, and I think it is down to a lot of hard work over the last few years behind the scenes.
The depth in the squad is also very encouraging, and as a captain I take great pride in the way we have performed even when our Proteas are not there.
Obviously it’s great to get them in the team when we can, but it also a bit unlucky on the guys who work hard to get us into the big games.
As a captain, it is a great situation to be in, and we look forward to welcoming Bouch, Jacques and Parny for the semis.
It was great to see Wayne get some runs for SA, and we have always known how well he can bat. I honestly think he has the potential to be a Test all-rounder one day.
But for now, it’s all about the semis!
