The Standard Bank Pro20. We Got the Kaboom!

Champions League Twenty20 Announces Fresh Dates

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Australia, and Cricket South Africa today announced the rescheduling of the inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 from September-October to early December.

The first Champions League Twenty20 will now be contested from 3 – 10 December inclusive, the three cricket boards said in a joint statement today.

Venues and commercial partnership details will be finalised in the coming weeks now that the new dates have been set.

My Pro20 Round-up

There's just no arguing it - Pro20 has revolutionised cricket forever. Even if you're not in love with the game of cricket (and seriously now, how can you not be?) you'll go a long way to find better value for money in family entertainment anywhere else. Standard Bank and the South African Pro20 franchises have come together brilliantly, using new technologies and stretching the 'boundaries' of the game to exceed my expectations time and time again.

A game in the life of a Pro20 blogger

Fifteen minutes remain before the first ball is due to be bowled. I’m sitting at Rondebosch station, waiting for a train to Newlands, where the Cobras are all set to take on the Eagles. A voice on the platform loudspeaker crackles something about the train being delayed – great. I pull out my phone, fire up Opera Mini and log in to my Pro20 live blogging account, just to make sure it’s working. It is – ready and waiting for my deluge of live updates from the game. The train eventually squeals in and I make it to the ground with three minutes to spare…

Riaz's view of Pro20 2008

The Dolphins began this season’s Standard Bank Pro20 Series campaign with desire and hope rather than expectations of a semi final place. The Durban-based franchise have struggled in limited over cricket over the last few years and few could have foreseen them progressing past the round robin stage.

After the opening two games, and two losses, including a resounding ten-wicket thumping, at home, to the Eagles, the Dolphins found themselves propping up the table.

A cracker of a season's round-up

It has been a ground-breaking season of the Pro20 this year, with Standard Bank going all out for the fans, and treading on turf no other sport sponsor has ever been. Standard Bank has gone social, with the inclusion of a Facebook group, YouTube channel, Twitter feeds, Flickr, MXit as well as this blog. And have released the first Social Media Press Release.

Titans are Pro20 Champions!

The Titans have won the Standard Bank Pro 20 Series with a 18 run victory over the Dolphins.

When Smit and de Bruyn went it was only a matter of time before the Dolphins tail were sent packing.

In the end it was the class of de Villiers in the Titans innings and the bowling attack, led by Steyn and Mbhalati, that got the Titans the title, to go with the 45 over championship they won at the start of the season.
