Last-ball Thriller: Dolphins v Warriors

The Chevrolet Warriors booked their place in the Standard Bank Pr20 semi-finals after beating the Nashua Dolphins by four wickets in another last-ball thriller.

The Dolphins won the toss and chose to bat first at Kingsmead in Durban and Makhaya Ntini struck early to remove opener Cameron Delport for five. Some silly running saw Dolphin’s skipper depart just before the end of the fourth over and the home side looked shaky at 18-2.

The run rate ticket over slowly and the home side managed just 124 in their 20 overs thanks to some fine bowling by Ntini and Rusty Theron.

Thami Tsolekile blog: "What a great result"

What a great result for us against the Dolphins. The win means that we have our destiny in our own hands and if we beat the Eagles in Bloemfontein on Sunday we are into the semi-finals.
I have to take my hat off to the Dolphins. When they were three down with not many on the board I thought we might bowl them out for about 140 but Dave Miller played a superb knock to push them to 159.
Robbie Frylinck and Ethan O’Reilly did a good job with the new ball for us but the Dolphins managed to wiggle off the hook.

Imraan Khan Blog: "I thought we put up a helluva fight"

We did not end our Standard Bank Pro20 campaign with a bang as I had hoped but we took a young and inexperienced team to Potchefstroom and I thought we put up a helluva fight.
We got ourselves into all sorts of trouble on eight for three so to post 159 was a good effort.
All credit must go to David Miller. To score 90 off just 52 balls shows how good he is. He is a wonderful ball-striker and if he keeps working hard the sky is the limit.
Who knows, perhaps national honours may not be too far away.

Justin Kemp Blog: "It was a very rewarding victory"

It was a very rewarding victory after a disappointing batting display.

We got off to a slow start and found the going tough on a very slow wicket. The past few days it was extremely hot in the Mother City and we finished twenty to thirty runs short of a competitive total on a challenging deck.

I was happy with the way Justin Ontong and I resurrected the innings.

The bowling attack of the Dolphins did extremely well and it was only in the latter part of the innings that I managed to get lucky and deposit a few over the boundary ropes to push us to 116/7.

Imraan Khan Blog: "Bowled and fielded excellently"

It was a very disappointing day at the office for the Nashua Dolphins.

We bowled and fielded excellently to restrict the Nashua Cape Cobras to less than 120 runs.

With the exciting and energetic Kyle Nipper at the helm, well supported by the experienced senior statesman Johann Louw, we held sway with our bowling attack.

But our batting was very disappointing, and we fell away alarmingly after we were in a useful position on 72/3.

I think it was a tough wicket to bat on. It was a bit up and down, and also slow.

Newlands crowd earns yet another well-deserved win

The Cobras have a lot to be grateful for. In Justin Kemp they have a flamboyant frontman who leads with both bat and ball; they have wicked bowling skills in players like Rory Kleinveldt and Vernon Philander; and they have the potential for huge scores, thanks to gutsy batsmen like Henry Davids and Andrew Puttick.

But more than anything, they have a loyal and unwavering home crowd, who seem determined to see their team win, no matter what.
